Reverse Cards

Utilize Anki Pro's Reverse Cards feature to enhance memorization by reviewing material from different perspectives and boosting retention

Updated over a week ago

The option to reverse cards lets you study your cards in both directions. With this mode on, every card will automatically have a mirrored version.

Study Reversed Cards

When you're studying, remember that the main card and its reverse may have different progress. They start learning independently, without affecting each other.

Edit your Cards

Any changes you make to one card will also affect its reversed version.

Reverse Cards Individually

When you're creating flashcards, you'll find a toggle for Reverse Cards in editing mode. Once you flip it, the change will apply to all subsequent cards, saving you from toggling each time. But feel free to switch it off whenever you want.

If you change your mind later, simply go back to card editing and adjust the reverse setting as needed.

Bulk Reverse/Unreverse Cards

If you want to Reverse/Unreverse multiple cards at once, just open your deck and tap the Options menu to select your first card. Tap Select and choose as many cards as you need or tap Select all to choose all of them at once.

When the selection is made, tap Options again and choose Reverse.

Note!

Cards with Cloze and Image Occlusion features cannot be reversed since by default they consist of only one side of a card.

If you have many cards to be reversed, you will see a progress bar indicating how many of them are completed.

Note!

If you select all cards and then de-select one, only visible cards on screen will be selected instead (minus the de-selected one). Let's say, you have a 100 cards in your deck but only 60 cards were visible and you de-selected one - the amount of selected cards is now 59.
